Lot 77 Colt Camp Perry .22 LR #124
Colt Single-Action, Single-shot Target pistol. Manufactured 1926, first year of production. Only 2,500 were manufactured over its fifteen year production run (1926-41), with the majority being manufactured during the later years of production (est. 440 between 1938-41) The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED JULY 4, 1905. OCT. 5, 1926.”, the left is marked “CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE”. The sideplate has a rampant colt. The crane and the left of the frame under the grip are marked “124”, the inside of both grip panels are also marked "124" in grease pencil. No "Camp Perry" marking, correct. When Colt introduced this pistol in 1920 they referred to it as the single shot target model. It was not marked Camp Perry Model until after the first few hundred were made. 10" barrel. The front sight is a Patridge blade pinned to a base fixed to the front of the barrel. The front sight is adjustable for elevation. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed to the rear of the topstrap, adjustable for windage. Knurled backstrap, checked wood grips with silver toned "Rampant Colt" medallions. The original blue finish is about 94% with minor edge wear and scratches, some areas of light patina on the frame, original grips are excellent, the action is crisp/smooth and the bore is excellent/bright.
